Our Story

My mom, born and raised in Brazil, is a truly amazing woman. She can make something from nothing in any kitchen and could whip up an excitingly new and different soup on any day with anything in the fridge. I didn’t realize how special that was until I was 16 and working as a barista at a local bagel shop in Tucson, Arizona. The owners started offering soup for lunch. I thought that was great since I’ve always had a deep love for soup, thanks to my mom. I sat down for lunch on my first day with the new soups on the menu and I was struck by how absolutely delicious my mom’s soups were. I said to my boss (let me remind you I was 16) “sheesh, even a sip of my mom’s soup would be better than this.” She promptly instructed me that mom’s home cooked soups couldn’t be replicated on a menu in a restaurant. I thought “well why not?” I told my mom that night one day I would open a cafe and call it Sippers where we would offer unlimited sips of my mom’s best and most creatives soups. Well, twenty years later - after receiving my medical degree and masters in public health, completing a five year residency in pediatrics, adult and child psychiatry, marrying the love of my life, and having six beautiful children, that dream is growing into a reality. Now most of you are thinking... “wait, soup!? I thought this was a bakery?” Well, it is a bakery - at least for now. I’ve been baking for friends and family for ages and nothing brings me more joy than seeing others enjoy my homemade treats! Sometimes they’re fancy and sometimes they’re ordinary but every time they bring people together to share a smile. I’m hoping that this small custom order home based bakery will grow, with your help, into a cozy cafe where friends and families can enjoy sips of soups and delicious desserts.
